The inspiration of that logo came from the Book of Kells, an image of a bird modified to depict the emigrant fleeing from Ireland across the world. The shamrocks around its neck represent the Irishness they carried with them to the places where they settled. Birds and winged flight have symbolized exile in Irish mythology as a means of freedom and hope.
