Earth quake in china..I pray God to save people and wish for their safety, welfare..ok. wil it affect olympic?

i read in newspaper that a major earthquake of 7.8 magnitude ripped through southwest china on monday afternoon, killing thousands, leaving 900 students buried and sending shock waves through cities across a large swathe of country and southeast asia. It makes me worry, sad. I pray God to save people from this and wish for the safety, welfare. I know whole universe is worrying. i am one among them. On hearing the news, i even not taken a cup of coffee until this time. i don't understand why God punishes the innocent people.
